Meet the team
jade, general manager
It’s no secret that Sabzi’s team are the absolute key to our success, and one of the main reasons why so many of you keep returning again and again, to be served our delicious food.
From the warmth of our front of house team who will greet you upon your arrival, to the sometimes unseen (but completely sensational) chefs and KPs in our kitchen who help our recipes shine, I am genuinely so proud to work alongside each and every member of our Sabzi family.
Each month I would like to take the time to celebrate and champion one of the team, who have gone above and beyond to contribute to the success of the business, and the experience of our wonderful customers.
As we grow I’d love for you all to get to know our team, and to have the opportunity to connect with our business in a more meaningful way. This post is all about Sabzi’s wonderful General Manager, Jade, who’s been a vital part of the team ever since the opening of our Falmouth store. Get to know a little more about her...
Hi Jade! Could you describe your job in three words?
Varied, sociable and rewarding!
What’s the best thing that’s happened to you this week?
Rachel, one of our lovely regulars in Falmouth brought in a mini bunch of lavender, picked fresh from her garden, for each of our FOH team members! I mean, how amazing is that?! We see Rachel everyday (she works at another local business) as she has a coffee subscription and works her way through our hot drinks menu and always keeps us guessing as to what she is going to order.
How do you like to start your day?
A Sabzi flat white made with Trink milk over some Wordle in the morning. On the side, a warm Za’atar Tahini Bun straight out of the oven, rounded off with a few blondie off cuts for dessert. We get the blondie off cuts from every batch of blondies made by our kitchen team (staff perk 101)!
What a perfect way to start a day! What motivates you?
I like to be successful at whatever I decide to do and building strong genuine relationships with the people I see everyday!
What’s your favourite snack?
Although this isn’t a light snack, I can always demolish homemade chips and homemade mayo, if I’m feeling extra boujee then I add grated cheddar and gravy to them (this is what my Sabzi secret santa got me.)
What was your first job?
My first job was glass collecting and pulling pints at a busy bar in Truro. I loved the buzz when it got hectic and found chatting with staff and customers alike really fun. I found all the different spirits and drinks fascinating.
What are you passionate about?
My family and friends, food, and my job here at Sabzi with Kate, the team and all of Sabzi’s wonderful customers.
Who’s your favourite musical artist?
Beyonce – who run the world… girls! And whatever mood I’m in, if I put her on I can smash out the day!
What is one thing you are currently trying to make a habit of?
Swimming before or after Sabzi.
What topic could you give an hour-long presentation on with little, to no preparation?
Great places to eat in Kernow. I can’t help notice all the little details when eating out and am happiest enjoying food!
What food have you tried that’s the furthest out of your comfort zone?
I’ll happily try anything, but I definitely would struggle with something that’s still alive and wriggling!
If you could eat one dish for every meal for the rest of your life what would it be?
Jacket potatoes, because they’re so versatile! I think they’re comforting and nostalgic and like I said, there are a range of different condiments, preserves and fillings you can apply to pimp them up! Can’t beat the humble JP.
Where would you take a Sabzi lunchbox to eat?
Pendower Beach on a balmy Monday in late spring or early September, I would eat it after a dip with Marc and Matild, probably chased by a mint choc chip ice cream!
Thank you Jade.
